Visit of the Japanese Consul General to BSU

On December 4, 2019 BSU hosted a meeting of the Consul General of Japan, Mr. Fukushima Masanori, with the university direction represented by the Vice-Rector for Additional Education O. D. Bazarov, the Head of International Department E. M. Kaurova and the Director of Oriental Institute D. I. Buraev. The meeting was also attended by the attache of the Consulate General of Japan Sataka Jin, the 3rd secretary of Russian Foreign Ministry A. O. Gomboev and the associate professor M. G. Zhantsanova (interpreter).

During the conversation the parties discussed the issues of academic exchanges, as well as the students’ enrollment in undergraduate and graduate programs.

In June 2019, in Japan, after the meeting between the Russian President V.V. Putin and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, the interdepartmental memorandum was signed. Under this memorandum the parties agreed to hold Japanese-Russian interregional and twin-city exchanges in 2020-2021.

At the end of the conversation with the representatives of BSU, the Japanese Consul General met with students of Oriental Institute, for whom a Japanese film was shown.
