Open the doors to the Mongolian world with the BSU Center for Mongolian Language and Culture!
From July 4–6, 2025, Dorji Banzarov Buryat State University (BSU) will host the most significant event in Russian-Mongolian educational cooperation—the Forum of Rectors of Russian and Mongolian Universities.
The first day of the Forum will be marked by the opening of the Center for Mongolian Language and Culture. Establishing the Center within Buryat State University is the natural result of several converging factors. For over 30 years, Banzarov BSU has been the only university in the world offering continuous training in Mongolian Studies at all levels—bachelor’s, master’s, and postgraduate—every single year.
The history of cooperation between our university and the National University of Mongolia is on the rise. A key element in developing joint student mobility programs is the Mongolian language internships for students of the Central Asian Philology Department at BSU’s Eastern Institute. This collaboration between the two universities and their faculty began in 1994, and since then, substantial experience in academic exchange has been accumulated.
Moreover, Mongolia is a long-standing and reliable partner of Russia, with enduring good-neighborly relations strengthening and expanding yearly in education, culture, and business. Comprehensive Russian-Mongolian cooperation is developing especially actively in the Republic of Buryatia, which positively impacts the growing demand for Mongolian Studies and Oriental education among BSU applicants. There is also rising demand among specialists in Russian public and private institutions for Mongolian language training and certification.
The Banzarov Buryat State University Center for Mongolian Language and Culture will become the world’s first foreign certified center preparing candidates for the TOMFL Mongolian language proficiency exam. It is worth noting that the official opening of the Mongolian Language Testing Center in Mongolia itself took place in February 2024.
"The Center’s primary tasks will be organizing Mongolian language exam preparation courses for foreign citizens—primarily Russians—and holding cultural events aimed at promoting Mongolian language and culture," said N.B. Badmatsyrenova, Acting Head of the Central Asian Philology Department at Buryat State University.
