The Center for Mongolian Language and Culture hosted celebrations dedicated to the traditional Mongolian holiday, Tsagaan Sar.
The festivities opened with a screening of the feature film "Khiimor" by Mongolian screenwriter Erdenbileg. The choice of the film was symbolic: according to the Eastern calendar, it was the Year of the Fire Horse, and the image of the horse plays a significant role both in the film's plot and in Mongolian cultural tradition.
A lecture by A.M. Shoidonova, Head of the Buryatia History Department, PhD in History, and Associate Professor, was particularly noteworthy. The lecture focused on the historical and cultural aspects of Tsagaan Sar celebrations in Buryatia and Mongolia, the symbolism of the rite, and its role in modern society. We sincerely thank Altyn Munkozhargalovna for her informative and insightful lecture, which became an important part of the program and contributed to a deeper understanding of the historical and cultural heritage of the Mongolian world.
Students from the Institute of Historical and Cultural Studies and the Institute of Philosophy held master classes in Mongolian chess and the traditional game of shagai. The playgrounds were a real buzz, as the students enthusiastically tested their skills and supported each other.
The program also included competitions in Mongolian calligraphy and for the best good wishes in Mongolian. The participants demonstrated not only their proficiency in the language but also a deep understanding of cultural traditions.
The closing ceremony was attended by Consul B. Batchuluun and Vice-Consul Ch. Batbileg of the Consulate General of Mongolia in Ulan-Ude, as well as BSU Vice-Rector for Research V.V. Nomogoeva. The visit of the distinguished guests underscored the significance of the event and the high level of international cooperation. Prizes for the competition winners were provided by Mongolian state universities, which significantly supported interest in the study of the Mongolian language and culture.
The events were attended by students from the Institute of Foreign Languages (VI) studying Mongolian as their primary language, as well as Mongolian students from the Institute of Foreign Languages (IIF), studying at the university under a grant from the Head of the Republic of Buryatia. We thank all participants for their active participation, genuine engagement, and warm atmosphere, which made these days truly vibrant and memorable.
The Center for Mongolian Language and Culture expresses special gratitude to the students of group 04620 and to AIS BSU President G. Maral for their assistance in organizing and hosting the festivities.
The Tsagaan Sar celebration once again confirmed the students' strong interest in studying the Mongolian language and culture and became a unifying event in the life of the university.
