Every year, faculty from the Russian Foreign Languages Department, along with international students studying Russian at our university, travel to the Ethnographic Museum for a grand Maslenitsa celebration.
BSU brings together students from all over the world, as we have students from Azerbaijan, Argentina, Benin, Vietnam, Guatemala, Zambia, India, Indonesia, China, Mali, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nigeria, Tibet, and South Korea.
On February 22, 2026, a large, friendly group of international students, along with curators N.N. Alekseeva and B.V. Batueva, traveled on three buses to the traditional Maslenitsa festival.
This event was a vibrant celebration filled with entertainment, delicious treats, and an introduction to Russian culture!
The international guests took part in traditional games, including tug-of-war and brave pillow fights, vying for the title of the most agile and courageous participant. Smiles and laughter echoed throughout, creating a warm and friendly atmosphere of true celebration. The festive atmosphere was further enhanced by vibrant costumes, playful jokes, and cheerful songs.
Our students especially enjoyed learning about Russian cuisine: fragrant pancakes with various fillings and hot tea allowed the international students to experience true Russian hospitality.
This excursion was an unforgettable experience and a shining example of how students from all over the world unite in the study of the Russian language and culture.
After the excursion, the students shared their impressions, noting that such events allow them to experience Russian culture easily and joyfully. They also thanked our university administration for providing transportation.
